Carla Guerrera
Planning & Design Project Manager, Waterfront Toronto
In her professional roles, Carla Guerrera is passionately committed to reducing the ecological footprint of development at both the community and building scale. As Planning and Design Project Manager with Waterfront Toronto, Carla manages the planning and implementation of the West Don Lands, an 80-acre compact, mixed-use sustainable neighborhood with LEED-gold buildings, supplied by district energy. Carla works with stakeholders and partners to overcome the challenges of implementation for green development, setting a new bar for development, and aiming to put Toronto’s waterfront at the leading edge of global sustainable practices. From her experience as a Senior Researcher with CMHC, her expertise relates to innovative green building technologies, urban design and development based on sustainable land-use practices. Carla is the Sustainability Editor for the Ontario Planning Journal and holds a Master`s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (M.Pl.) from Queen`s University. The integration of green buildings within overall sustainably-designed communities is the perspective that Carla brings to the CaGBC GTC Board.
