ORC awards
The Ottawa Region Chapter (ORC) recognizes excellence in fostering sustainable design, construction and/or management of buildings annually in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. Past winners have made significant contributions toward advancing the ORC's objectives:

Stephen Pope (2005)
Jonathan Westeinde (2006)
Christopher Simmonds (2007)

Selection Criteria
The selection will be based on the significance and degree in which the individual made an impact to advance the greening of buildings in in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The following five (5) dimensions will be evaluated.

  1. ORC will strive to foster expertise in the field of Sustainable Buildings.
  2. The benefits of the actions have been received in the ORC.
  3. The efforts are beyond the normal scope of the individual’s professional duties.
  4. The actions and impact are specific/tangible.
  5. Although the achievement does not have to be accomplished in the current year it must be relevant in today’s context.

Nomination / Selection
Nomination for the award can be made by any current member of the ORC. Any individual can be nominated.

A selection committee will evaluate the nominations and select the three (3) most promising nominations. The Board of Directors of ORC will select the winner of the award from this short list.

Deadline for Nomination
January 1st, 2009

Nominations are to be made using the downloadable form. The proponent must describe the nominee’s achievement and illustrate how it is aligned with the ORC’s objectives.

Award
The recipient will be given one (1) meter of the Trans Canada trail. His/her name will be inscribed as a contributor to the trail. The recipient will also be showcased in an upcoming issue of Green_Space, the ORC's official newsletter.

At the ORC's annual general meeting, the recipient will be presented with a framed certificate.
